PANJIM: The Opposition members on Thursday said that the decision to curtail the monsoon session of Goa Assembly to 10 days was undemocratic and endorsement of failures of the BJP government on all fronts.
Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Deputy leader Sankalp Amonkar and MLA Yuri Alemao said that the BJP government in Goa has failed miserably on all fronts and had no guts to face the Opposition.

“They are worried about getting exposed on various scams and scandals. Citing panchayat elections as the reason, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has found an escape route from getting exposed on its failures,” they said.
“We will expose the misdeeds of the BJP government in 10 days of the session. We will continue to be the voice of the People of Goa and take every opportunity of the curtailed Assembly Session to grill the government,” they added.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a swipe at the BJP government for curtailing upcoming Assembly sessions and saying it is the BJP’s biggest failure.
AAP Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas asserted that the BJP government in Goa has failed miserably in all spheres which is why frightened BJP government has cited panchayat elections as a reason to avoid getting exposed on its failures.
Capt Viegas stated that the government’s decision to curtail Assembly session was both in contravention of procedural norms as well as “inadequate” to discuss issues of public interest.
“Curtailment of Assembly session proves Sawant Sarkar is running away from its own 100-day booklet,” he said.
AAP Velim MLA Cruz Silva said, “The BJP government has been running away from discussing the problems of the people. The last Assembly set a record of having the least number of sittings in the five years of its term, with the BJP controlling the Opposition by purchasing their MLAs. However, this time, the AAP will force the government to answer questions of the common people. In spite of the curtailed Assembly session, we will keep being the voice of Goans and raise the issues that concern them.”
