Orissa native arrested with ganja

PORVORIM: Porvorim Police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old labourer from Orissa on charges of possessing ganja worth Rs 1.4 lakh near Audit Bhavan in Porvorim. Police received a tip that a person would visit a spot near Audit Bhavan to deliver ganja. Accordingly, police in civilian clothes kept vigil at the site. When police nticed the suspicious movement of a person, they approached him and frisked him, when they found ganja in his possession. Police said the accused Amit Kumar Nayak was working as a labourer in Goa. Porvorim PI Shivram Vaiganker along with Police Sub Inspector Vilesh Dhurbhatkar, Sandeep Ghodge, Melvyn Cardozo and Satish Sawant conducted the operation. Porvorim Police arrested Nayak under Anti Narcotics Act and the accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
