PANJIM: In an attempt to expedite pending infrastructural projects, the Goa government has constituted a 14-member panel to review the delayed works as well as advise it on projects best suited for the State.
The Standing Project Monitoring Group (SPMG) chaired by Chief Secretary R K Srivastav has also been tasked with advising the government on various matters relating to formulation, implementation and evaluation of the Central Sector Infrastructure Projects.
“It has to review the progress of the delayed infrastructure projects, advise the government on infrastructure projects best suited for the State, advise on various matters relating to the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the CSIP and appoint sub-groups to detail out any problem or matter which may be considered necessary for its effective functioning,” the notification, mentioning approval of the government and concurrence of the Finance Department, states.
The committee will also hold powers to call for information from any government department to undertake inspections, visiting development projects, holding discussions and seeking clarification from the secretaries and/or heads of departments in connection with the matter concerning the implementation of the SPMG.
