Panel to finalise District Road Safety Plan by August 20

PANJIM: The North Goa District Road Safety Committee will finalise District Road Safety Plan by August 20. 

This was decided during the NGDRSC meeting held under the chairmanship of North Goa Additional Collector-I Pundalik Khorjuenkar.

The meeting discuss major issues such finalisation of speed limits for the coastal belt roads from Sinquerim-Candolim-Calangute and Anjuna and Morjim-Mandrem-Arambol and to install bus stop signage in Tiswadi, Bardez and Pernem talukas on the service roads on priority to facilitate users of public transport particularly on stretches where NH-66 works were undertaken

Also accident analysis report of five major fatal accidents one from each taluka to be fast tracked by the office of SP North.

It was further decided to conduct site inspections of the area around Panjim and Mapusa bus stands to identify spots for road engineering and installation of road safety signage. 

Also site inspections of the approach roads at Karmali and Tivim railway stations will be carried out to identify road engineering issues, notification of bus stops and installation of road safety signages.

A drive will be carried out to remove/tow abandoned vehicles from all municipal council areas and from the jurisdiction of major village panchayats in North Goa district. 

The meeting reviewed usage of the road safety books prepared by the State Council of Educational Research and Training in Goa.

The Directorate of Health Services will get feedback from EMRI ambulance service on golden hour response from bystanders so as to popularise/Good Samaritan Law.

The North Goa District Road Safety Committee will mobilise for effective participation in the State Road Safety Week to be organised in the last week of September this year.
