MARGAO: There was panic in Colva on Wednesday after a vehicle supplying CNG gas to a petrol pump started leaking CNG gas. However, the issue was handled later on by the Fire Department and officials of the company and the vehicle was taken to a safe zone.
As per the officials and Margao Fire Office Herculano Gill Souza, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when one of the valves of the gas manifold system connecting the CNG gas cylinders developed a snag.

The gas leakage started when the supply vehicle belonging to Indian Oil Adani Gas company was at the petrol pump.
The vehicle was manually pushed away from the petrol pump and the fire brigade was kept on standby. As the valve was not closing, the cylinders in the vehicle were closed and gas from the manifold pipes was released.
Company officials claimed that the issue was due to a minor valve damage. The leakage was brought under control after releasing the gas in the pipes in a controlled manner.
The company officials however said that no harm was caused and that the vehicle was moved from a hazard zone before it was released in the safe zone.
They added that such incidents could have happened either due to the vehicle experiencing a sudden jerk on the road or weather conditions.
