Launched in November 2023 by Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, CITIIS 2.0 focuses on advancing climate action through a circular economy approach to integrated waste management.
Panjim Smart City’s winning proposal for CITIIS 2.0 drew inspiration from the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative aiming to encourage sustainable practices in India and around the world to combat environmental degradation and climate change.
The proposal aims to position Panjim globally as a ‘Model Best-Practitioner’ in sustainable waste management with citizen participation.
The winning proposal, “Amchi Swachh Panaji – Ensuring Zero Landfill for a Thriving Panaji” that promotes Panjim’s citizen centric and decentralised model of waste management, was an in-house collaborative effort of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL),
Sanjit Rodrgues, CEO Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), said, “We are incredibly proud that Panaji Smart City’s innovative waste management plan, ‘Amchi Swachh Panaji’ has secured us a place among the top 18 winners of the CITIIS 2.0 Challenge. Beyond mere waste collection, our plan is a comprehensive blueprint for a circular economy, transforming waste into a valuable resource.
CITIIS 2.0 Challenge was conducted on in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), Kreditanstaltfür Wiederaufbau (KfW), the European Union (EU), and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), offering significant financial and technical assistance to the winning cities.
Old Goa to Divja circle via Ribandar road to be closed from March 10 to April 30
PANJIM: The entire stretch of road from Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa junction along the causeway upto Divja circle, Panjim will be closed from March 10 to April 30, 2024 for traffic movement from Old Goa to Panaji, due to ongoing Smart City works. The traffic will be diverted towards the NH 748 (Kadamba Bypass Road).
The phase wise distribution of sewerage works at Ribandar is as under: Phase I- Vithal Mandir (Panvel) to Amul Shop (Fondvem) from March 10 to April 30; Phase II- Amul Shop (Fondvem) to Ajuda Church Junction from March 12 to April 15; Phase III- Ajuda Church Junction to Ribandar – Patto Circle from March 26 to April 30 and Phase IV- Ribandar Patto Circle to Chimbel Junction from March 6 to April 30.
