Panjim-Margao shuttles cut trips short
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, APRIL 1
In an interesting development, the KTC shuttle buses on the Panjim-Margao route have stopped coming to the city here to drop passengers.
Instead, the shuttle buses have decided to make a halt near the Harmonia Clube before returning back to the KTC bus stand.
The decision has taken passengers by surprise, but sources in the know say the KTC’s decision has received a nod from the District Magistrate, G P Naik.
When contacted, Margao Traffic Cell incharge, PI Prabodh Shirwaikar said the KTC management had approached the District Magistrate to permit the shuttle buses to halt and drop the passengers near Clube Harmonia.
“The Margao Traffic Cell was asked for the NOC by the Magistrate’s office, which we have issued. The proposal has come from the KTC and not from the traffic department”, PI Shirwaikar added.
Passengers, especially office goers traveling to Panjim from Margao, have expressed their reservations on the sudden decision by the KTC management to stop entering the city and dropping passengers at the SBI bus halt.
This is the first time that the KTC shuttle buses have stopped entering the city to drop the passengers. While the sudden move has taken passengers by surprise, the traffic department in private has welcomed the move, saying the decision will help decongest the Commercial Capital.
