PERNEM: A paragliding adventure turned tragic when a 26-year-old woman tourist from Pune and a 25-year-old paragliding pilot were killed after one of the cables snapped midway as the duo came crashing down at Keri-Pernem plateau on Saturday evening.

The tourist has been identified as Shivani Dabale and the paragliding pilot as Suman Nepali.
As per initial reports, one of the cables of paraglide snapped mid-air, which led to both Shivani and Suman falling to death.
Shivani along with her friends had come to Goa for holiday. On Saturday evening she decided to go paragliding.
The Mandrem Police later conducted the panchanama and sent the bodies to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim for post-mortem examination. Further investigations are under the supervision of Mandrem PI Sherif Jacques.
It is learnt that a few months back the Keri gram sabha had passed a resolution urging the government authorities not to permit paragliding at Keri beach. The copies of the resolution were also submitted to the departments concerned.
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar has demanded that the paragliding owner should be arrested if found that he was operating it illegally.
He said that he was opposed to paragliding at Keri beach and that he had conveyed his opposition to both the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Minister.
