MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar came under severe criticism for bulldozing his way with the Mopa airport without listening to the voices of the people and the poor farmers inhabiting the Mopa plateau. At a meeting organised by the villagers of Dramapur, activist Dilip Hegde said the chief minister is not for the poor people of Mopa, but is working for the builders’ lobby and the rich politicians who are pressing for the project as they would be able to make fast buck on their land around Mopa. Dramapur Parish Priest Fr Jose Dias highlighted the ill effects if Mopa airport comes up, as the livelihood of Goan families will be threatened. He urged the people to come out and tell their MLAs and ministers to impress upon the government in one voice that “we don’t need Mopa as Dabolim airport is sufficient.”
