PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday informed the State Legislative Assembly that he and his party colleague Shripad Naik was sought to be implicated in the desecration of idol cases during erstwhile Congress government regime.
Parrikar said that the accused Kavesh Gosavi was being tutored by a senior police officer to claim that Parrikar and Shripad Naik were the brains behind the desecration of Churches and Temples in the state.
“I have all the records. Kavesh Gosavi during his test (narco test) had confessed that a senior police officer was trying to implicate me and Shripad Naik (BJP’s North Goa MP) in the crime,” the chief minister said.
The Calling attention motion was moved Tuesday by independent MLA Benjamin Silva expressing apprehensions in the mind of people about attacks on Churches and temples.
Gosavi however came out clean in two cases so far for want of evidence this year while trial in two other temples desecration cases are pending against him.
Parrikar responding to the motion said that three incidents have been reported so far during last one year. In one of the incident while cleaning the cemetery, a lady removed all the old Crosses, which was later reported to the police.
The chief minister said that one of the incidents happened in an isolated Chapel, where people usually don’t visit. The incident was reported three days later.
Parrikar said that the patrolling has been increased at the religious places and if required state government will pump more money to increase security cover to these places.
