Residents of Parse have formally opposed the proposed urbanisation notification that seeks to bring the village under an urban area, submitting a representation to the Secretary of the Parse Gram Panchayat urging that the proposal be rejected.
During the meeting, the villagers also appealed to the Gram Panchayats of Morjim, Mandrem, and Harmal to oppose the notification and forward reports to the government reflecting the concerns of local residents.

The representation was submitted in the presence of Mahesh Kambli, Ganpat Kambli, and several other villagers, who reiterated the need to safeguard the village’s traditional character.
The Gram Panchayat Secretary informed the delegation that a Gram Sabha has been convened for this Sunday, where villagers will have an opportunity to record their views and objections before a decision is taken.
Residents maintained that while development is welcome, it should not come at the cost of Parse’s identity, environment, and the principles of Gram Swaraj (village self-governance). They urged the government to ensure that the voices of local communities are taken into consideration before implementing the proposed urbanisation notification.
