PONDA: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar appealed to corporate houses and commercial establishment to shoulder some social responsibilities by way of providing basic social services to society through their CSR. He said it is a wrong notion that only the government should undertake basic facilities all over the State. He said it would not be a big burden on their profit if major companies do some social work.
He was speaking after inaugurating the toilet block for girls at the Government Primary School at Bethora constructed by United Breweries Ltd, as part of their contribution to the appeal made by prime minister for the Swach Bharat Abiyan.
Further, the chief minister said the prime minister “is stressing on Swach Bharat and everybody should help maintain clean surroundings.” He appreciated the company for providing clean toilet blocks for school children.
He said other companies should follow the precedent set by United Breweries to bring change in society and in attitude of working and contributing more to society.
On the occasion present were Industries minister Mahadev Naik, Chief Secretary Shrivastav, Govind Tivari DVP and CE United Breweries, Bethora Sarpanch Poonam Samant.
