MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has ruled out any possibility of scrapping Regional Plan 2021.
Interacting with the media, he clarified that the plan has been prepared paying attention to all the checks and modalities, as such, it does not need scrapping.
Categorically rejecting the demand by some NGOs to scrap the Regional Plan 2021, Parsekar said, “The demand for scrapping is not realistic and it is unfair to do that. The RP 2021 has been drafted after incorporating the demands of the people. It is an exercise done by experts in the field. It would be unfair to scrap the process.”
“We can accept suggestions and accordingly make changes to the plan, but scrapping it is out of question,” Parsekar said.
Pressure is building up on the government, as organisations such as the Rainbow Warriors Federation have demanded scrapping of RP-2021 alleging that a scrapped plan is being brought back.
Activist groups have alleged that new settlement zones in ecologically sensitive zones to an area of 10-15 lakh square meters have been added to villages to “finish off Goa.”
