PONDA: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday urged mining truck owners to keep their agitation peaceful and not damage trucks over the issue of ore transportation rates.
He stated that the government had helped the truckers a lot by providing financial assistance of Rs 200 crore, and called upon all stakeholders, including the government and mining companies, to cooperate and solve all transportation issues.
On Friday, a mining truck, returning to Surla after unloading ore at Amona jetty, was set on fire, causing a loss of around Rs six lakh.
Truck owners have been demanding that the ore transportation rates be increased and a stoppage of illegal mining activity.
Parsekar was speaking after commissioning the 43rd Crushing Season of Sanjivani Sugar Factory at Dharbandora. He assured to solve all issues of the sugarcane farmers in view of the losses suffered by them.
Industries Minister Mahadev Naik assured to provide grants of Rs 1 crore to Sanjivani Factory.
Savordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, Sanguem MLA Subash Faldessai, ZP Govind Gaonkar, and Sugarcane Producers’ Associtation president Rajendra Dessai were present.
