Parsekar visits new jail at Colvale

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar Thursday said that the prisoners including all convicts from Aguada would be moved to the modern Central Jail at Colvale by May. During his visit Parsekar there, he asked officers to maintain the quality of work and expedite the remainder of the work.

Parsekar who visited the Colvale jail was speaking to reporters after acquainting himself with the progress of work at the jail. The jail will also have an in-house 16 bed hospital.
The construction of the central jail has been executed through the PWD and is nearing completion. Phase 1 has already been completed and phase 2 will be completed by the end of the year.
The Chief Minister was received at the jail premises by the Inspector General of Prisons, Elvis Gomes who took him around and briefed him about the progress. 
Directors of DK Infrastructure Private Ltd, Mumbai, and others were present during the chief minister’s visit.
