The District Magistrate had announced a temporary road closure and traffic diversion on the Patto Bridge leading towards Panaji city from January 30 to February 1, 2026. The closure was ordered to facilitate repair work on the damaged expansion joints of the bridge. As per the notification, vehicular movement was diverted through alternative routes to minimise inconvenience to commuters. Regulated two-way traffic was permitted on the New Patto Bridge during morning hours, while reverse traffic flow was allowed on the Old Patto Bridge to ease congestion. Authorities advised motorists to strictly follow traffic diversions and cooperate with enforcement agencies during the repair period to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety.
