PORVORIM: Penha-de-Franca Panchayat has proposed a budget of Rs 2.26 crore for the year 2015-16.
In the gram sabha held recently at community hall Alto-Betim, Panchayat Secretary Subhod Prabhu presented the proposed budget. In the Rs 2.26 crore proposed budget, the panchayat has shown grants from the government at Rs 58.93 lakh, which includes Octroi (Rs 45 lakh), matching grants (Rs 4.25 lakh) and garbage grants (Rs 2 lakh).
Income for the year 2015-16 by way of taxes and fees has been projected as Rs 64 lakh, which comprises house tax (Rs 47 lakh) and professional tax (Rs 15 lakh). The income through fees has been estimated at Rs 42.59 lakh, which includes construction license fees (Rs 5 lakh), sanitation and health fees (Rs 2 lakh) and garbage fees (Rs 25 lakh).
On the expenditure front, Rs 70.57 lakh has been earmarked for public works which include construction of drains and roads, development of open spaces and gardens, purchase, etc. Administration expenses are at Rs 30.88 lakh. For sanitary and public health and family welfare, a provision of Rs 65.75 lakh has been made, out of which Rs 15 lakh is for solid waste management, Rs 40 lakh for door-to-door collection. An amount of Rs 3.90 lakh has been earmarked for social work, out of which Rs 1 lakh is for sport.
