Speaking to the media informally, Sawant said these funds will be given to panchayats which cooperate and present innovative projects such as panchayat ghar, community hall, crematorium, etc duly certified by ‘Swayampurna Mitra’ officers.

Stating that some ‘Swayampurna Mitra’ officials had complained that some panchayats members were not cooperating with them during their visit to panchayat offices, Sawant appealed to sarpanchas and panchayats members to cooperate to help the government in furthering people-centric initiatives.

The Chief Minister disclosed that he will hold a virtual meeting via video conferencing with all 191 village panchayats on Saturday.

Sawant on Wednesday had chaired a meeting with ‘Swayampurna Mitra’ officials to review the data collection and programme implementation under Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa. He said that requisite data was yet to be received from around 30 panchayats as this data was required to plan and take central sector schemes to the villages.

Sawant said that officers have been asked to focus on eight points such as toilets, water, electricity, housing, agriculture, insurance etc.

“We will start seeing 100 per cent results by April this year,” Sawant said, adding that Bicholim taluka was the best performing taluka and Sanguem was the least performing taluka under the initiative.

Swayampurna Goa initiative programme will also be implemented in municipal areas soon, Sawant added.
