PANJIM: Goa government on Friday reduced Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and petrol by 4 percent which in turn reduced the prices of petrol by Rs 2.57 and diesel by Rs 2.5 in the State. The new rates will be effective from midnight.
The reduction followed the Centre’s move to reduce the prices of by Rs 2.5 per litre. As a cumulative effect the price of petrol will effectively be reduced by Rs 5.57 per litre and that of diesel by Rs 5 per litre in Goa.
