CALANGUTE: The Calangute Comunidade has filed a police complaint against its former attorney and president, after accusing them of forgery in the Baga parking issue.
Calangute Comunidade attorney Suhas Naik filed the forgery complaint against ex-attorney Anthony D’Souza and ex-president Agnel Lobo for allegedly issuing an NOC to Calangute Panchayat over the Calangute-Baga parking issue.
Naik has alleged that the NOC was purportedly forged by the ex-attorney and no meeting of the managing committee was held on that date as per the records of the Calangute Comunidade.
“The ex-attorney of the erstwhile managing committee granted NOC on November 22, 2012, to the Calangute Panchayat for parking in the land admeasuring 7,750 sq mtrs,” claimed Naik.
“Though it is stated in the NOC that the decision was taken by the managing committee in the meeting on November 22, 2012, there was no such meeting held on the day nor was any resolution passed as per the record books of Calangute Comunidade,” stated Naik in his letter addressed to the Calangute PI.
“The letter dated November 22, 2012, allegedly granting NOC for parking has been purportedly prepared/written on computer-generated letter head of Calangute Comunidade. The NOC has been brought into existence by way of forgery, fabrication and manipulation with dishonest intention of causing financial losses and prejudice to the Comunidade,” stated the letter.
“It is therefore prayed that stern action as per the provisions of law be initiated against the ex-attorney and ex-president of Calangute Comunidade,” reads the letter to the Calangute PI.
When contacted, ex-attorney Anthony D’Souza and ex-president Agnel Lobo said they had issued various NOCs like overhead water tank, sewerage treatment plant, electricity sub-station, parking lot, etc, in the interest of general public. “We have done nothing wrong by issuing such NOCs,” they said.
Meanwhile, Calangute Panch Joseph Sequeira has criticized the decision of the Calangute Comunidade in going ahead with the collection of parking fees at the parking lot after restraining the contractor employed by Calangute Panchayat.
“When we allotted collection of parking fees to a contractor, we were restrained by the Calangute Comunidade through the Directorate of Panchayat. However, the Calangute Comunidade has now started collection of parking fees through another person despite the stay which sounds ridiculous,” said Sequeira.
According to sources, the Administrator of Comunidades has accorded the sanction for collection of parking fees to the Calangute Comunidade.
Though stated in the NOC that the decision was taken by the managing committee in the meeting on November 22, 2012, there was no such meeting held on that day nor was any resolution passed as per record books of Calangute Comunidade
