PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) on Thursday unanimously resolved to conduct inquiries into various irregularities alleged by the councillors.
During PMC meeting on Thursday, a councillor claimed that the appointment of PMC staff was illegal as several staff had produced bogus certificates.
“A resolution was passed and an enquiry will be conducted by the chief officer. The councillor claimed that many employees submitted bogus certificates pertaining to their education and age,” informed PMC Chairperson Dr Radhika Nayak.
Councillor Venkatesh Naik claimed that four posts reserved for handicapped and family of freedom fighters were illegally allotted to the general category. “The four posts were illegally filled during the last council without taking the DMA’s approval,” stated Naik.
The council accordingly passed unanimous resolution and the services of the four, who are now on daily wages, will be terminated. “During the last council, we had complained to the Vigilance about the irregularities in the appointments,” said Dr Nayak.
“Based on our complaint, the four posts were not regularised and kept on daily wages,she said.
