PANJIM: The Goa Police has begun an inquiry into an allegation against former Shia Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi’s over his book titled “Muhammad” that has made objectionable comment against Prophet Muhammad.
The issue has sparked a fresh controversy as some religious organisations in other parts of the country too condemning its cover page that portrays a man with a semi-naked woman. They also accused Rizvi of making objectionable comments against Prophet Muhammad.
Organisation of All Goa Muslims Jamats and Associations General Secretary Urfan Mulla lodged a complaint against Rizvi with the Crime Branch for hurting Muslims sentiments by mocking and insulting Prophet Muhammad. The complainant has demanded registration of First Information Report and immediate arrest of the alleged accused.
“…kindly file and register First Information Report against Wasim Rizwi for using insulting remarks against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and allegedly hurting the religious sentiments during the release of a book written by him titled Muhammad…” Mulla said in the complaint filed on November 15.
Citing the Prophet as honest, just merciful, compassionate, truthful and a brave human being, Mulla said that insulting remarks against the Prophet could lead to disruption of peace and harmony.
