PONDA: People in Ponda demanded that Municipality take suitable action against increasing stray dogs in the new market complex, preferably by creating shelter shed for dogs. Around 70 dog bite cases reported at Sub District Hospital per month.
Reportedly, few years ago a woman had died of rabies after puppy bites her at Ponda market.
The Ponda locals demanded effective sterilization of the new market complex as it has apparently become a shelter for stray dogs. It has been observed that the number of stray dogs have increased in Market area and causing nuisance to visitors.
A local who is regular to the Library located on second floor of the market said, “If you see, from ground floor to the second floor the dogs are roaming freely and even sometimes drop their waste on floor.”
People visiting the market along with children are apparently scared of the pack of stray dog. However, no untoward incident reported.
