PONDA: Due to the drainage pipes broken at various places of basement parking of Ponda Market Complex, the rainwater is gushing down on the floor of basement parking causing hardship to the people to park their vehicles.

The rainwater which gets accumulated on the mezzanine floor, flows down into basement parking, flooding the area, as the drainage pipes are damaged at various places.

Social worker Viraj Sapre said, “The Ponda Municipal Council needs to take urgent steps to repair the drainage pipes so that the water accumulated in the market complex flows into the nullah at the market area.”

Viraj said, “This being the parking area, water accumulated needs to be drained properly into the gutter otherwise it could be a breeding ground for malaria, dengue etc. Similarly, some vehicles dumped in the market area should be removed. The iron grills put up on the drainage and gutter system have also disappeared at the basement parking.”

He said, “The PMC should immediately take action and solve the problem.”
