PONDA: The Ponda Police have registered an offence against Sadanand Prabugaonkar, from Silvanagar here for allegedly forging an income certificate on the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) letter head.

The offence was registered after the Chief Officer Raviraj Gosavi complained to police
about the forgery. According to the police, the incident came to light when a vigilant staffer noticed that the applicant had produced a xerox copy of a forged income certificate in an attempt to obtain a document for another purpose.
The forged document was reportedly created by the accused in order to be submitted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) to secure admission for a nursing seat on behalf of a close relative.
Police investigations revealed that prior to 13 December, the accused allegedly forged the income certificate using the letterhead of the PMC. He is accused of forging the signature of the Chief Officer and using a counterfeit seal bearing the impression of the Ponda Municipal Council. The forged document was purportedly presented as an official certificate issued by a public servant, thereby committing offences under Sections 336(2), 337, and 341(1) of the BNS 2023.
An offence has been registered at the Ponda Police and further investigations into the matter is underway, led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Ashish Velip.
