A visual inspection report submitted before the High Court of Bombay at Goa has highlighted several road safety concerns at the ongoing Porvorim flyover construction site, raising questions over the safety of commuters using the stretch.
Petitioner-in-person Advocate Moses Pinto informed the court that live traffic continues to pass in close proximity to active construction zones, excavation areas, heavy machinery and stored construction materials, posing potential risks to motorists and pedestrians.

The inspection report identified multiple safety deficiencies, including inadequate advance warning systems, poor visibility of hazards, exposed excavations, loose construction material, unfinished road shoulders and abrupt changes in road alignment that could endanger road users.
The report also drew attention to possible monsoon-related hazards, such as inadequate drainage, exposed soil and slippery conditions, particularly increasing the risk of accidents involving two-wheeler riders.
In light of the findings, Pinto has urged the High Court to direct the Public Works Department (PWD) Chief Engineer and the project contractor to hold another joint meeting to address the identified safety lapses and implement corrective measures along the construction stretch.
The matter underscores growing concerns over commuter safety as work on the Porvorim flyover project continues.
