PANJIM: As part of protests being held across the State these days, a section of students held a protest outside the premises of Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Saturday.
The students who maintained social distancing and wore masks, said that 69,000 people comprising students, parents and fellow Goans have signed an online petition demanding that the exams be cancelled.

While they are also okay with it being held online, they said they are protesting against the holding of offline exams, meaning where students have to visit centres physically to answer their exams.
“The Chief Minister is taking all of this too casually while we are worried sick. It is not just about holding exams. We are under tremendous mental pressure and we are unable to concentrate. This is a pandemic and cases are reaching an all-time high. How are we expected to concentrate? What will happen to our future if our scores are affected by all this,” said a student.
They also felt the exams being held in an offline mode could lead to the further spread of COVID in Goa and push the State into the red zone.
Stating that they had already emailed the CM their petition, they said they will come on Monday again to hand over the petition to the Goa Board and the Education Department.
“We should be at this time be patiently and thoroughly preparing for our exams. Everyone knows how important board exams are and how students study for the boards. Here we have not been able to do that properly. This has come in the way of our exam preparations ,” added a student.
