PANJIM: After requests from the Opposition, now Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Thursday urged the State government to postpone reopening of schools by a day or two in view of Lok Sabha poll results on June 4.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “I have spoken to the Chief Minister and told that the school opening should be postponed by a day or two. Same is the wish of the people that it should be postponed. Till now it is scheduled to open on June 4 but I have requested that it be postponed by a day or two. It is not just my opinion but opinion of many as I am getting calls from various people.”

“There are many teachers who are on election duty as well,” he said.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has asserted that the schools will reopen on June 4.
Recently he had said that election should not be mixed with education.
Earlier, the opposition parties had demanded to postpone the reopening of schools from June 4 as the counting of votes is also scheduled for the same day.
