MARGAO: Failure on the part of the administration to prepare the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex for the elections of Sarpanchs and Deputy Sarpanchs and subsequent power failure forced the staff to work till late hours.
Apparently there was a short circuit on Friday evening and since then, there were several power interruptions at the complex.
This morning too there were intermittent power failures resulting in delays in taking photocopies particularly in the BDO’s office. In the afternoon, as the results were being compiled and fed into the computer, there was a power failure again. The generator set could not be switched on as the diesel stock was exhausted.
Finally after diesel was purchased, the generator set was turned on only at 4.50 pm but unfortunately the computers in the BDOs office did not work and hence the results had to be compiled manually.
