PANJIM: Continuing arguments on the plea challenging the Special Court’s order granting former chief minister Digambar Kamat anticipatory bail, the State on Tuesday told the High Court of Bombay at Goa that Crime Branch’s (CB) investigation in the bribery case was based on judicial proceedings before a US court.
The prosecution has sought Kamat’s custody to recover the missing JICA files and to recover the amount that he allegedly received as kickbacks from former officials of Louis Berger.
“It is not that Crime Branch started the investigation, case was registered on the basis of judicial proceedings before the US court,” Public Prosecutor S Rivonkar said.
The hearing will continue on Wednesday.
