PANJIM: The Congress on Monday demonstrated in Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s constituency protesting the rising price of commodities ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
“With Ganesh fast approaching the price rise has hit the common man very badly. While in the Opposition, the BJP talked of inflation now they must answer to the people what has happened to their promise,” GPCC vice president Babi Bagkar said. The protestors wore a garland of onions around their necks.
Bagkar said that on the one hand the BJP government has introduced schemes for senior citizens and housewives while on the other, they have increased prices of all commodities, including electricity and water.
“How will the common man survive? What has happened to the promises of Acche Din?” Bagkar asked.
Others who participated in the demonstration included Narayan Redkar, Convenor of Mandrem Congress Block, Amit Sawant, Pramesh Mayekar, Amol Raut and Anil Barde.
