Punjab cracks down on organised crime with Operation Prahar

The Punjab government on Tuesday launched Operation Prahar, a 72-hour statewide drive targeting organised crime. Over 2,000 police teams are raiding locations linked to associates of 60 foreign-based gangsters, with 12,000 officers deployed.

Director General of Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav said the operation aims to dismantle the gangsters’ entire ecosystem, including financing, logistics, safe houses, weapons supply chains, and communication networks. Police have mapped 1,200 associates and 600 family members involved in criminal activities. Yadav warned of zero tolerance for aiders and abetters as the crackdown intensifies across Punjab.
