Around five people have been arrested in connection with a blast outside the Punjab unit headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chandigarh, according to Punjab Police. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the operation was jointly carried out by Punjab’s Counter-Intelligence wing and Chandigarh Police.Investigations revealed that the attack was allegedly backed by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), with foreign handlers traced to Portugal and Germany. Authorities said multiple modules and intermediaries were involved in planning and executing the incident.The explosion took place around 5 pm on Wednesday when a suspected crude grenade was thrown near the office in Sector 37. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Police have recovered one grenade and additional explosive material, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects still at large.Unverified videos circulating online show a person throwing a grenade before fleeing, though officials have not confirmed their authenticity. A separate claim of responsibility, allegedly linked to Babbar Khalsa International, is also under investigation. Authorities say the arrests have helped avert a larger threat aimed at disturbing regional peace.
