PANJIM: A junior engineer from the PWD has been suspended by the government for allegedly engaging in irregularities, officials said today.
Vigilance Deputy Director A Rane told the media that a complaint was received against the JE and was examined by his department, which found that there was some irregularities in the tendering processing. So the government decided to place him under suspension.
According to officials, the investigation had found that that a work tender for the maintenance of water supply was released by the engineer which exceeded his financial powers.
The tender was not published in the newspapers and work was done by saying that there was an urgency under the short tender method.
They informed that that investigations had found that this was not the case and that the entire exercise was done in a fraudulent manner. So the engineer was placed under suspension. PWD officials confirmed the engineer’s suspension.
