MARGAO: Executive Magistrate, Margao Madhu Narvekar along with officials from the health and police, besides representatives of NGOs, conducted a series of raids on sale of cigarettes and tobacco products near city schools here on Monday.
The team imposed fines on the stalls owners for not complying with the provisions of COPTA and also made their appearance in one of the city schools to spread awareness on the anti-tobacco drive.
Narvekar told media persons that the raids will continue in order to deter traders and vendors from carrying out sale of tobacco products close to the schools.
