Rains forecast till Oct 31

PANJIM: After cyclone Kyarr, yet another low-pressure belt has developed over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and is likely to bring rains to the coastal State till October 31. 
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours due to rough weather conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thundershowers, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, at isolated places of Goa during the next two days. 
Last week, Goa had been severely affected by a cyclonic storm that developed over the Arabian Sea. The cyclone triggered heavy to very heavy rainfall causing much havoc. The State recorded 254 per cent surplus post monsoon showers. Till date, it has received 540.9mm of rainfall as against the average 152.7mm.
