The medical board set up to conduct autopsy of 16-year-old girl Raveena Rodrigues from Verna, who died at the Goa Medical College Hospital on July 29, has stated that the girl died due to Septicemia and Shock.
It may be recalled that Raveena’s family members had lodged a police complaint against Pai Nursing Home, Vaddem-Vasco, where she was operated for appendicitis and subsequently referred to GMC, after her condition deteriorated.
“A team of doctors consisting of Dr Sapeco, Dr Madhu and Dr Nikit Chandan submitted their report stating that the girl died due to Septicemia (Invasion of the bloodstream by virulent microorganisms from a focus of infection) and Shock,” Vasco police said.
Vasco police further informed that the report would be submitted to the dean of GMC to seek legal opinion.
Meanwhile, Tara Kerkar of Savera has lodged a complaint with the health minister that a thorough enquiry should be conducted in the matter.
She alleged that the private clinics and nursing homes run by the government-employed doctors are negligent in performing their duties.
