PONDA: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik on Friday expressed unhappiness over fresh road digging in Ponda for sewerage work.
Addressing a press conference, here, he said, “Since past two years this work is progressing in unplanned manner. Now fresh road digging has begun causing inconvenience to the public.”
He opined that to avoid frequent road digging for various development and providing utility services, the government should set up a coordination cell of all the departments so that frequent road digging is avoided.
Ravi complained that said roads in Ponda are frequently dug up for laying sewerage, gas lines, water supply lines, mobile cables, and underground electric cables.
“Not only in cities but all over Ponda Taluka and Goa these services are important. So, government should set up a cell so that roads are not dug up dig again and again causing hardship to the public,” he said.
“There should be proper plans and layouts of all the services with the coordination cell. This will also save money spent on frequent road digging,” he said.
Ravi also demanded that Ponda be made third district as it is centrally located which would help the surrounding taluka locals to get work done speedily.
He also demanded additional police station at Ponda as it is a vast Taluka and the population is increasing.
Accusing the MGP of opposing development works in Ponda, he said that instead it should oppose Karnataka’s plan of diverting Mhadei River.
He informed that a football ground would be developed through tribal fund and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude has assured to sanction fund through tribal fund. The same was proposed earlier through tribal fund but former PWD minister Sudin Dhavlikar scrapped the proposal.
Ravi alleged that the Sub District Hospital at Ponda is providing best medical facilities.
He expressed the need for CT scan and MRI machine so that patients need not to visit GMC Hospital.
He said that laying of underground cabling is need of the hour as Ponda Taluka is frequently facing power cuts due to tree falls.
