MARGAO: Under the chairmanship of Rajendra Talak, a newly appointed committee has put forth a proposal to the government, suggesting Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, as a joint venue for the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The committee held its first executive meeting, coinciding with the completion of 15 years since the establishment of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
An interesting addition to the executive committee is renowned tiatr artist John D’Silva, who will represent the tiatr fraternity at Ravindra Bhavan.

Talak has reassured the public that all major issues plaguing Ravindra Bhavan will be addressed within the next month, including the establishment of canteen facilities. He informed reporters about the proposal sent to the government, seeking recognition for the venue as a joint IFFI venue, along with plans for upgrading Ravindra Bhavan.
The committee aims to screen a minimum of 30 films during IFFI, intending to provide film enthusiasts from the South district an opportunity to view world-class films.
Talak shared insights into their annual programme, with an estimated budget of nearly Rs 1.20 lakh, which includes initiatives to attract various organizations and individuals involved in the field of art and culture. This endeavor will be akin to an expansion of Ravindra Bhavan.
Addressing concerns about complaints related to Ravindra Bhavan, Talak expressed the committee’s commitment to meticulously addressing every minor detail and problem. He emphasized the need for public participation in the improvement of the complex.
Furthermore, Talak assured that all issues pertaining to tiatr artists would be resolved, with plans to digitize tiatr boards, providing synopses and trailers of dramas to attract larger audiences. Ravindra Bhavan pledges full support to the tiatr fraternity.
As part of their ongoing efforts, repairs of toilets and other areas have already commenced, with major works scheduled after the monsoon season concludes.
