MARGAO: Asserting that he and his party is ready for an electoral battle in Benaulim, Goa Vikas Party supremo Mickky Pacheco has said the party has no dearth of leaders to contest the by-poll, if any, for the Benaulim Assembly seat, exuding confidence that people of Benaulim will repose the same trust and faith in him and the GVP like in the past.
“Right now, our one-point agenda is to challenge the Union Home Ministry’s decision on Caitu’s citizenship before the judiciary. We are confident that the judiciary will do justice to our MLA and to the GVP. But at the same time, I would like to send a strong message to the leaders who are day dreaming to make it to the Legislative Assembly that the GVP is still alive and will contest with all its might if there’s a by-poll in Benaulim”, Mickky told Herald on Saturday.
Asked whether the GVP will have any difficulty in fielding a candidate for Benaulim in the event of a by-poll, Mickky shot back “We don’t face any dearth of leaders. The GVP will consult the people for an appropriate leader to represent them in the Assembly if there’s a by-poll”.
Saying there are certain leaders who are day dreaming of making to the Assembly from Benaulim, Mickky reminded that the people of the constituency have been electing him or his representative since 2002. “No matter who is the candidate, I and my GVP are prepared for an electoral battle,” he added.
