Rebel to Ruler: Not Fadnavis but Eknath Shinde sworn in as CM Thursday evening

Eknath Shinde was sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra Thursday evening. Eknath Shinde left Goa on Thursday at noon and met Devendra Fadnavis and together they met Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari. Outgoing CM Udhav Thackerey who resigned Wednesday had asked whether the next CM will be a Shiv Sainik. The next CM will indeed be a Shiv Sainik. Wednesday evening Shinde landed as a rebel, on Friday he will land back as CM to take back his 50 MLAs for Maharashtra. The BJP has decided to support the government from outside.

The rebel Shiv Sena MLAs who are camping in Goa even as their leader Shinde left for Mumbai broke into a dance as they heard that Shinde would be the CM and not the Deputy CM. The BJP’s decision not to join the government came as a major surprise even to the BJP camp.
