Relief at last as monsoon arrives

Finally, the south-west monsoon has arrived in Goa with Met Department predicting rainfall in next 24 hours.
The Met Department today said that the monsoon had advanced into some parts of Konkan and Goa and the conditions were favourable for the further advancement of south-west monsoon current.
“The monsoon has reached Ratnagiri. Goa can receive rainfall in the next 24 hours”, Indian Meteorological Observatory in-charge K V Singh told Herald.
Singh said that the situation is improving fast. “The currents have started moving towards Goa”, he added.
Inspite of monsoon setting over Kerala on May 31, Goa had to wait for nearly a week for the showers. The cyclone Phet that originated in the Arabian Sea last week had halted further development of monsoon current across the country.
