COLVALE: Congress members staged protest outside MVR PWD Office in Colvale demanding written assurance to repair and hot-mix all the service roads from Patradevi to Bambolim.
As the members marched towards the office of MVR, the officials of MVR Company failed to meet the agitators followed by which Congress members gheraoed the office of the PWD and questioned the concern officers on the bad condition of service roads due to construction of highway.
Some of the members questioned the PWD officers on when the roads have been repaired to which the officials failed to give the answer.
Congress, however, gave an ultimatum before Diwali to repair all the service roads. They also said that if the PWD failed to do so then an intense agitation would be held outside the MVR office again.
Congress claimed that people especially pregnant ladies and old-aged people are facing hardship due to the bad condition of roads.
They also said that due to COVID-19 pandemic people have financial crisis even to repair their vehicles due to bad condition of roads.
“Many people have lost their lives. Many are severely injured after meeting with accidents due to bad condition of roads in Goa. We have given deadline till Friday to give in writing that all the service roads from Patradevi to Bambolim will be repaired, hot-mixed and will be pothole free before this Diwali,” said Amarnath Panjikar, general secretary of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.
