PORVORIM: Maidan Bachao Samiti, Pedem-Mapusa, has urged Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Ramesh Tadwadkar to permit the locals to use the Peddem ground for sports activities after the conclusion of Lusofonia Games.
A delegation was led by the samiti’s President William Fernandes, Convenor Jitesh Kamat, Vice President Adv Kamlakant Poulekar, General Secretary Sushant Naik, Secretary Adv Milind Dessai, Milind Shirodkar, Satyen Mhapsekar, Vinesh Naik and Nanda Bhaidkar and other members.
“Peddem playground is the only ground in Mapusa available for sports lovers in Mapusa and nearby areas. Youth from Bardez use the ground to practice, exercise and carry out other sports activities every day. Senior citizens also use it for morning or evening walk,” stated the memorandum.
Tawadkar assured the delegation that the playground will be kept open for the public without any restrictions.
