Margao: Residents of Ward No 10 under Margao Municipal Council (MMC) are demanding immediate action from the civic body to clear the growing pilesof garbage which has become a looming health hazard.
The accumulation of waste along roads and fields has raised serious apprehensions among locals. Ward councillor Tavares Victorino expressed dismay over the indiscriminate dumping of garbage, including wet waste such as fish, along the roadside.
Hefurther noted that despite daily door-to-door garbage collection efforts, residents from other wards also contribute to the problem by disposing of waste in Ward No 10.
The situation has reached a point where the MMC special garbage
collection truck only visits the area once every 10 days, and that too on special request.
The alarming state of garbage disposal in the area has compelled residents to call for immediate clearance to avert potential health risks.
