PANJIM: Information Technology (IT) Minister Rohan Khaunte on Wednesday said that the revamped IT policy will be rolled out in the next three months with a focus on promoting mid-sized companies and Goan IT companies looking for expansion to be set up at proposed IT Park in Chimbel.
Speaking to the media, Khaunte said the government has restructured the IT Park, which will be built on public private partnership (PPP) model.
“Earlier it was only IT Park on PPP basis, now we have restructured it into three. One is for startups, second for creation of infrastructure for existing industries for expansion and third will be the IT Park. By December we will be ready with the entire plan,” he said.
The Minister said the government is in the process of drafting a revamped IT policy which will be rolled out in next three months that will encourage employment generating mid-companies and Goan IT companies looking for expansion.
“The entire focus on the IT sector is to stop the brain drain and get back the IT experts who have migrated out of State due to lack of opportunities. We want to ensure that young IT brains find avenues in Goa,” he said.
Khaunte said that the Startup policy has been notified but the biggest challenge is to implement it. “There is lot of excitement in the industry related to IT. I want to say that when government is serious and has launched the startup policy, government is doing enough to create infrastructure to facilitate the policy,” he said.
