MAPUSA: Revolutionary Goans demanded action against illegal vendors mostly comprising of migrants selling flowers and other items along the road at Mapusa and Karaswada-Tivim Junction.
They have raised strong concern over the illegal encroachment of footpaths, road and other public spaces by migrants in Mapusa jurisdiction.
Founder member of Revolutionary Goans Manoj Parab said that they have written to the Mapusa Police demanding action in the matter.
“Recently huge number of migrants has come to Goa from Karnataka in the vehicles to sell flowers for Dussehra. They have set up stalls outside the Mapusa bus stand on the footpath as well as opposite Gandhi Chowk. Many have set up stalls at Karaswada- Tivim Junction. We have written to the Mapusa Police Station demanding strict action in the matter as they create traffic chaos. These migrants are illegally encroaching the footpaths and other public spaces. They were selling flowers during Dussehra and other items,” said Parab.
“These migrants are keeping the flowers in dirty places and even walking on them. The people are buying these same flowers and offering to their respective God. At the same time the vendors from Goa who are carrying out legitimate business in the flower market are suffering loss as these migrants are stealing from them their daily bread and butter,” he added.
