MARGAO: The Seraulim village panchayat’s recent gram sabha, chaired by Sarpanch Seema Shanke, addressed several pressing community concerns, ranging from traffic congestion to flood damage.
Illegal roadside hawking along the Mungul-Colva road emerged as a primary issue, with residents reporting significant traffic disruptions caused by unauthorized vendors and haphazard vehicle parking. Gram sabha members urged the panchayat to take swift action against these encroachments to alleviate congestion.

The persistent problem of the flooded subway also came under scrutiny. In response to this safety hazard, the panchayat has already approached district authorities with a request to restrict access to the subway, aiming to prevent potential accidents.
Kevin D’Souza, also brought attention to the extensive crop damage resulting from recent floods. He highlighted how inadequate water drainage near the wholesale fish market had exacerbated the flooding, and sought information on planned measures to mitigate future inundations.
Additionally, D’Souza inquired about the status of the long-awaited Seraulim Panchayat Ghar project, emphasizing the need for progress on this crucial community infrastructure. Other matters discussed during the session included concerns over the Railways’ inclusion of acquired property numbers in Form I&XIV, indicating the diverse range of issues affecting the village.
