MARGAO: Members of Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum on behalf of Awaken India Movement, on Wednesday, urged the management of Rosary College, Navelim not to make vaccination certificates compulsory for the students, as physical classes of college students begin from September 2.

A delegation led by Joseph Vaz met the Rosary College Administrator Fr Gabriel Coutinho, and acting Principal Dr Helix Barretto and pointed out that the notice put up by the college is a violation of the fundamental rights of students.
He said some students have informed him about the notice put up on the college board mentioning that all the students need to compulsorily produce the vaccination certificate while joining the classes, which is not right.
“The college management cannot force the students to take the vaccine, since it is not mandatory as per the orders of the Supreme Court. There are dangerous and fatal side effects of vaccines”, he said.
The forum has urged the college management not to make the vaccination certificates compulsory and let every parent decide on the safety of their children whether to vaccinate or not.
Vaz said there should not be any discrimination on the basis of COVID vaccination status, by way of rewards/benefits for the vaccinated and or punishment/loss of benefits to the unvaccinated.
