MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA Joshua De Souza has informed that Rs 130 crore was sanctioned for underground cabling in Mapusa to solve the power woes.
He conveyed the information after launching the work of illumination of public streets and places (Phase II) in Mapusa at Dattawadi and near District Hospital, Peddem. The work has been undertaken through GSUDA.
Joshua said that he was very happy to launch the work as the foundation stone for the same was laid by his father six months ago.
“There are many such projects completed and will be opened throughout Mapusa. Over the next two years, many more works will be initiated. The Power Minister informed me that the underground cabling for Mapusa has been sanctioned and it will solve the power issues caused during the monsoon due to power cuts. We will be one of the few cities that will have underground cabling,” Joshua said.
MMC chief Ryan Braganza said that there was a need to work together and take forward the developments works in Mapusa.
“We need to live up to the expectation of the people of Mapusa. To get the work done there is a need for follow ups and a vision for Mapusa. Before the term of our newly elected MLA ends several works will be seen in Mapusa,” Braganza said.
Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo congratulated Joshua for launching two development works on Tuesday.
“Francis will be happy seeing that Joshua has inaugurated the work of the high mast and street lights. He has to work towards speeding up the work in the long run. He needs to follow the example of his father,” Ticlo said.
